Spring is the long-awaited time to get out of the house from the gray days of winter and get lost in nature. As the days grow longer and provide extra hours of daylight to explore, take in any of these outdoor activities within Goodlettsville.
1. PLAYGROUND PALOOZA
For the young or the young at heart, all ages can enjoy a playground. Whether it be the playful atmosphere of swings, slides and climbing structures or simply relaxing on a bench while enjoying the youthful energy surrounding you, playgrounds are fun! Goodlettsville is home to six public parks with playgrounds. Five of the playgrounds are managed by Goodlettsville Parks & Recreation: Brooks Park, Gateway Park, Moss-Wright Park, Peay Park, Pleasant Green Park, and Mansker Creek Park is managed by Metro Nashville Parks & Recreation.
2. HISTORIC SITES
Discover the rich history of Goodlettsville by exploring Mansker’s Station, the Bowen House, and the Old Stone Bridge. Take a guided tour through Mansker’s Station and the Bowen House, both of which are located at Moss-Wright Park. Tours are given each weekday between the hours of 9:00am-3:00pm, except on major holidays. Enter at the Goodlettsville Visitor’s Center at 705 Caldwell Drive for tour tickets for those two sites. The Old Stone Bridge is located near the intersection of Main Street (Dickerson Road) and Old Stone Bridge Road. Guests may park and walk independently to view the Old Stone Bridge. By breathing in the city’s history, you will not only enjoy the outdoors but also gain a deeper understanding of Goodlettsville’s past.
3. FUN ON THE FAIRWAY
Enjoy a sunny day outdoors by playing a round of golf at Twelve Stones Golf Club, located at 1201 12 Stones Crossing. With 18 championship holes, Twelve Stones spans over 6,000 yards with the meandering Madison Creek as its centerpiece. The club originally opened as a private golfing community and transitioned into a public golf course in 2014. Take in the beautiful green landscape and fresh air as you navigate through the course which is perfect for professionals and beginners of any age.
4. WANDER ALONG THE WALKING TRAILS
Discover the natural beauty of Goodlettsville by exploring three public walking trails. Lace up your shoes and embark on a leisurely stroll and immerse yourself in the surrounding nature, breathe in the fresh air, and enjoy the peace and tranquility that outdoor spaces provide. Pleasant Green Park offers a .5-mile paved trail, Mansker Creek Park hosts a 1-mile paved trail, and Moss-Wright Park provides a 2 mile and a 1.5-mile paved trail. Admire the diverse collection of trees along the Moss-Wright Park trail as part of the level two certified arboretum developed in 2019.
5. VOLLEY WITH FRIENDS OR FAMILY
If your outdoor sport of choice is pickleball, tennis, or sand volleyball, Goodlettsville has you covered! Meet new friends or take some with you and head on over to the newly renovated pickleball and tennis courts at Peay Park at 200 Memorial Drive, and take in a few matches for a relaxing and social game with your paddle or racquet and ball of choice. The facility features three dedicated pickleball courts and two multi-purpose courts that will accommodate two games of tennis or four games of pickleball at one time. The courts have lights and are open on a first come first served basis daily from 8:00am-10:00pm.
If sand volleyball is your choice, Moss-Wright Park added new sand volleyball courts in spring of 2023 for recreational and competitive play. Moss-Wright Park is located at 745 Caldwell Drive and is open from 7:00 am – 10:00 pm. On occasion, league play and tournaments may be scheduled at any of the parks facilities.•
