Originally from Long Island, Kim Ponce moved to Goodlettsville over 30 years ago when she and her husband relocated to start his business. When Kim was only six years old, her parents faced a critical decision. They were informed that without open heart surgery, Kim was not likely to live beyond her eighth birthday. To make matters even more frightening, the surgery only had a 60% chance of survival. Despite the risks, her parents chose to proceed with the surgery, which turned out to be successful.
Today, nearly 50 years later, Kim continues to believe it is her mission to utilize her time wisely and give back to others. She understands the value of life and the importance of making a difference. For her, money is not the ultimate aim; it is how she spends her time in service to others that matters most. Kim firmly believes that she is on this Earth for a purpose and feels a responsibility to utilize her time in a meaningful way, specifically by giving back to her community.
In Kim’s role as Community Outreach and Marketing Director for a local law firm, she actively supports various local charities and nonprofit organizations, attending fundraising events and donating both her time and resources. Her sincere admiration for her grandfather’s role as a fireman has instilled in her a deep respect and gratitude for those who serve the community. She shows appreciation for the hard work and sacrifice of the local police officers and firefighters by organizing meals to thank them for their service. She wants to ensure they feel supported and valued in their roles.
Her family’s commitment to the Goodlettsville community extends to their love for the park system. Kim understands the vital role parks play in fostering a sense of community and providing recreational spaces for families to enjoy. Her enthusiasm and involvement in the community not only assisted in the rebirth of the Goodlettsville Four Mile Classic Race, which is now an annual event for runners and walkers alike, she provides an annual Thanksgiving meal for the Parks and Recreation staff as an appreciation for their hard work in keeping our parks beautifully maintained.
Kim is also passionate about education and recognizes the impact teachers have on the overall well-being of a community and strives to make their work and efforts recognized. Not only does she organize an annual Outstanding Teacher of the Year contest for Middle Tennessee, she also assists local elementary schools with school supplies and other needs, both of which are sponsored by Ponce Law.
By organizing these meals and actively engaging in numerous other community initiatives, Kim sets an example for others, demonstrating the power of showing appreciation and contributing to the betterment of the community. Kim and her husband, Michael, raised two sons in Goodlettsville. Alex is in his first year of medical school and Michael Augustus is in his second year of law school.
Thank you, Kim, for making a difference in our community in so many ways! •
