BROOKS PARK

Brooks Park is a beautiful neighborhood park that was officially dedicated to the park system on November 17, 2012. It was named in honor of Oscar Brooks and Thurman Brooks. On April 27, 2023, a brand new playspace was opened at Brooks Park, thanks to a partnership with KABOOM! and MAPCO. Over 200 volunteers came together to build the playground for the community, and it was officially opened for play on May 2, 2023.


This park has a lot to offer, including a well-equipped playground, lush green space, and several picnic tables where families can enjoy a fun day out. Additionally, there is a peaceful and scenic walking trail that connects this neighborhood park to North Creek Park. 


Future developments for this site include the installation of a parking lot, handicap-accessible parking spaces, and a disc golf course which will provide a fun and challenging activity for visitors of all ages. Brooks Park is a wonderful place for families and friends to connect with nature, enjoy outdoor activities, and create lasting memories.


GATEWAY PARK

Gateway Park is a charming and inviting neighborhood park nestled in a quiet residential area just off Alta Loma. It offers a range of recreational opportunities for both neighbors and visitors alike. The park boasts a well-maintained playground area, complete with swings, slides, and other engaging equipment that provides endless hours of fun for children of all ages. Additionally, Gateway Park features a Little Free Library, which is a small book-sharing box that encourages a love of reading and learning within the community. The park was officially dedicated to the park system on March 25, 2017, and has since become a beloved gathering place for families and friends to enjoy the outdoors and each other’s company. 


MOSS-WRIGHT PARK

Moss-Wright Park, which is the largest park in Goodlettsville, covers 147 acres of land. It was dedicated into the park system on September 3, 1979, and was named after two individuals, H.S. Moss and Charles Wright, who played a significant role in the development of the park. 


The park is well-equipped with several sports facilities, including a baseball quad, softball fields, and a soccer complex, which are available for public use. Visitors can also enjoy a marked walking trail that offers a scenic view of the park. The trail is perfect for jogging, walking, or running.


The park also has an arboretum that features a variety of trees, making it a perfect spot for nature lovers. Additionally, the park has outdoor fitness equipment that can be used by anyone who wants to stay fit and active.

For pet owners, Moss-Wright Park has a dog park where they can bring their furry friends to play and socialize. The park also has two playgrounds, one for children aged 2-5 years and another for children aged 5-12 years. The expansive green space in the park is perfect for picnics, sports activities, or just relaxing. 


Sports enthusiasts can also enjoy playing on the four volleyball courts available in the park. For those who want to enjoy a meal outdoors, the park has several picnic shelters that can be reserved for private events or used on a first-come, first-served basis. 


PLEASANT GREEN PARK

Pleasant Green Park is a sprawling 22-acre park that offers visitors a range of outdoor activities and amenities. The park’s paved walking trail is perfect for those who enjoy a leisurely stroll or a brisk walk, while the two rentable shelters provide a great setting for picnics, family gatherings, and other events.


The playground at Pleasant Green Park is a fun-filled space for children of all ages, equipped with slides, swings, and other exciting play equipment. During the summer months, visitors can take a refreshing dip in the park’s outdoor swimming pool, which is open from Memorial Day to the first weekend in August. 


In addition to these features, Pleasant Green Park is also home to a large green space, providing ample space for visitors to relax and enjoy the natural surroundings. Whether you’re looking for a serene retreat or an active day out with the family, Pleasant Green Park has something for everyone to enjoy.


PEAY PARK

Peay Park, located in Goodlettsville, is one of the oldest parks in the area, having been established in the early 20th century. Initially, it was managed by the Men’s Club, but in 1967, it was donated to the city by the club. The park is spread over a vast area and offers several amenities that cater to people of all ages and interests.


The Delmas Long Community Center, located in the park, is a hub of recreational activities. The center has a gymnasium with a walking track, a multi-purpose rental room, an activity room, and a fitness area. It offers fitness classes, such as yoga, aerobics, and Dance Fitness, along with a Senior Adult Program. The center also has basketball, volleyball, and indoor pickleball courts within the gym, making it a perfect destination for sports enthusiasts. 


The playground within the park is a favorite among kids, with its swings, slides, and play areas. The playground is fully fenced, ensuring the safety of children. It also has a shaded seating area for parents to relax while their kids play. The playground has two separate play areas, one for children aged 2-5 and another for children aged 5-12.


The park also has outdoor tennis and pickleball courts, which are equipped with lighting for evening play. The open green space in the park is perfect for creative play and exercise. Families can enjoy a picnic, throw a Frisbee, or play catch in this area. 


The shelter in the park, known as Shelter 8, is spacious enough to accommodate parties of up to 100 people for outdoor gatherings. It is conveniently located next to the splash pad and restrooms, making it an ideal spot for events.


The park’s splash pad is a popular attraction among visitors, open through the summer months. It features a series of water cannons, floor geysers, water buckets, spray loops, a water tunnel, an aquadome, and seating integrated within the pad outside of the water’s reach.


Peay Park is also the future home to Rachel’s Garden Playground, an inclusive playground that will provide a playspace for children and adults of all ages and abilities.  


NORTH CREEK PARK

North Creek Park offers a serene and natural environment for visitors. The park boasts of a vast expanse of undeveloped green space, providing a perfect spot for picnics, outdoor games, and relaxation. Visitors can take a stroll along the peaceful and scenic walking trail that connects this park to Brooks Park and offers views of Mansker’s Creek. 


The park is a popular spot for outdoor enthusiasts, and the installation of a disc golf course is expected to attract even more visitors. The disc golf course will be designed to provide a fun and challenging experience for players of all skill levels. The course will be strategically placed to take advantage of the park’s natural features, making it a unique and exciting addition to the park.


North Creek Park is a hidden gem in the heart of Goodlettsville that offers visitors a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. With its undeveloped green space, scenic walking trail, and upcoming disc golf course, the park is an excellent destination for families, friends, and anyone looking to enjoy a peaceful and fun-filled day outdoors.  •
